Rules & Requirements Workshops and Retreats
No one dislikes rules more than Ellen, but it’s critical to have a shared understanding about expectations….so…. when you book a workshop slot and/or a writing retreat space, you agree to the following…
- To treat others and workshop/retreat spaces with respect, this includes quickly cleaning up after yourself in the kitchen, bathroom, etc.
- That you assume all risk for your activities while attending workshops/retreats.
- That you’ll wear a life jacket (provided) while in the river. Water shoes/old tennis shoes are not provided but are a very good idea.
- You understand there is no lifeguard on duty.
- That you’ll be responsible for the costs associated with any damage that you cause.
- To abide by the quiet hours of 7am until 7pm each day in shared writing retreat spaces.
- No smoking/vaping/etc indoors or near entrance ways.
- That pets are not allowed.
- You’ll abide by all the laws of the State of West Virginia, Jefferson County, and Shannondale/Harpers Ferry.
- That no firearms are allowed. That no fireworks are allowed.
- That there is no hunting allowed on the property. (Fishing is okay with a license which can be obtained online at https://www.wvhunt.com/login)
- You will pay all fees before the workshop(s)/retreat(s) begins.
- Refunds for cancellations within two weeks of your arrival cannot be guaranteed. In most cases, if another person registers for your spot and pays an equivalent fee, you will receive a 80% refund within a week of the workshop/retreat rental’s end.
