Workshop FAQs
No one dislikes rules more than Ellen, but it’s critical to have a shared understanding about expectations….so…. when you book a workshop slot and/or a writing retreat space, you agree to the following:
Abide by Laws
You’ll abide by all the laws of the State of West Virginia, Jefferson County, and Shannondale/Harpers Ferry.
A Lifejacket is Required
You agree that you’ll wear a life jacket (provided) while in the river. Water shoes/old tennis shoes are not provided but are a very good idea.
Assumption of Risk
You assume all risk for your activities while attending workshops/retreats.
Damage to Retreat Space
That you’ll be responsible for the costs associated with any damage that you cause.
Fees
You will pay all fees before the workshop(s)/retreat(s) begins.
Fishing with State License is Allowed
If you obtain a license online at https://www.wvhunt.com/login
No Fire Arms or Fireworks Allowed
That no firearms are allowed. That no fireworks are allowed.
No Hunting on Property
That there is no hunting allowed on the property.
No Lifeguard
You understand there is no lifeguard on duty.
Pets are not Allowed
You Understand that pets are not allowed.
Quiet Hours
To abide by the quiet hours of 7am until 7pm each day in shared writing retreat spaces.
Refunds
To abide by the quiet hours of 7am until 7pm each day in shared writing retreat spaces.
Smoking is Not Allowed
Refunds for cancellations within two weeks of your arrival cannot be guaranteed. In most cases, if another person registers for your spot and pays an equivalent fee, you will receive a 80% refund within a week of the workshop/retreat rental’s end.
Treat others and workshop/retreat spaces with respect
This includes quickly cleaning up after yourself in the kitchen, bathroom, etc.
