Named in memory of Nancy Zafris, this private and comfortable room offers the perfect space to stretch out, write, and unwind. Enjoy a peaceful retreat with plenty of room to focus on your craft, while sharing access to the bathroom, kitchen, and communal areas.

- Rate: $135 USD per night (single occupancy) / $160 USD per night (double occupancy)
- Minimum Stay: 2 nights
Bausch Room – A Cozy Affordable Retreat
Named in honor of Richard Bausch and in memory of Robert Bausch, this inviting room offers a comfortable and budget-friendly retreat. Ideal for solo writers or those looking to share the space with a close friend or partner, it provides the perfect balance of affordability and inspiration.

- Rate: $115 USD per night (single occupancy) / $140 USD per night (double occupancy)
- Minimum Stay: 2 nights
The A Reason to Write Cancellation & Refund Policy
- Cancellations made with 30 or more days notice will be refunded minus a cancellation fee of $10.
- Cancellations made with 7 or more days notice will receive a credit toward a future stay minus a cancellations fee of $10.
- Deposits due to snow will receive a full credit toward a future stay.

A Reason to Write provides the perfect environment for focused writing, offering both indoor and outdoor spaces to support your creative process. The retreat features two private bedrooms with desks and high-speed internet, plus thoughtfully designed shared spaces: a fully-equipped kitchen, a dining area, a comfortable living area, a shared bathroom, a covered patio, and acres of multi-level outdoor space.
Step away from the page, find your perfect writing nook, and let the surroundings fuel your inspiration. The retreat space is self-contained in the 2,000 sq ft walk-out basement (with its own entrance) of Ellen’s custom-built home. There is truly no place like it.
